First Presbyterian Church-Benton’s worship is guided by the principles found in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Book of Order within the section called The Directory for Worship.  Please visit Presbyterian Worship for more information on our worship practices.
For additional information and understanding about our Order of Worship, please visit this resource posted on the PC (U.S.A.) website.
Worship Sunday worship begins with the chiming of the hour followed by the lighting of the candles by acolytes.  The pastor and the liturgist, usually a ruling elder, then enter together, after which the worship service begins.

Worship at First Presbyterian

Sunday Morning

 Sunday Worship – 10:45 AM

Fellowship – 9:00 AM

Sunday School – 9:30

We are an inclusive church, welcoming all; and we are a congregation coming from many faith traditions with great diversity among our members and friends.

So, God meets us where we are; accepts us as we are; and loves us unconditionally….therefore: Abiding in Christ, we love and serve others.  We welcome all who come, no matter where they are in their faith journey and unconditionally accept them as they are.

Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided for all worship services and Sunday School. No reservations are needed for childcare during worship and Sunday school. Infants and toddlers are cared for by competent childcare workers who genuinely love children and focus on helping them, and their parents, to feel secure while in the church’s care.

We are always delighted to welcome children into our worship. Children are welcome to stay with their families throughout the whole of the worship service. At First Presbyterian children are valued as vital members of our community of faith.
Time for Young Disciples
A special part of our worship service for children of preschool and elementary ages is called “Time for Young Disciples.” Children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary to talk about some aspect of our life together. Afterward, children are welcome to remain with their families, or may be taken to the nursery. Children’s worship kits are available in the back of the sanctuary.

First Presbyterian Church welcomes all people.  Accessible parking spaces and ramps are located near church entrances.

Breaking-Bread-2-300x21211On the first Sunday of each month, First Presbyterian celebrates the Lord’s Supper. At our church we practice “open communion,” which simply means that all who wish to participate with us in celebrating the Lord’s Supper by receiving communion are welcome.
